EVERY SO OFTEN YOU GET LUCKY AT A BOOT SALE OR A CHARITY SHOP?
-EARLY ONE MORNING, IN THE LATE 70’S I WAS MOOCHIN’ AROUND A LITTLE MARKET, WHEN I CAME ACROSS A FEW 7” SINGLES ON A LABEL CALLED ‘BLUE BEAT’. AT THE TIME I DID’NT KNOW THE LABEL, BUT I WAS FAMILIAR WITH SKA & PRINCE BUSTER & WAS VERY PLEASED TO PICK UP A COUPLE OF HIS SINGLES. BUT REALLY, IT WAS FROM THIS POINT THAT MY INTEREST IN EARLY SKA & ESPECIALLY JAMAICAN R’N’B STARTED, BUT THAT’S A LONG STORY……
ANYWAY, LOVERS OF FINE MUSIC, PLEASED TO REPORT THAT A LOT OF BLUE BEAT STUFF IS NOW BEING SLOWLY RELEASED ON CD, SO IF YOU LIKE THIS, CHECK EM OUT-
REALLY IS SOME A THE CREAM OF EARLY JAMAICAN MUSIC. HONEST GUV.
