MOST OF THE MUSICIANS PLAYING ON THE PHIL SPECTOR RECORDS WERE PART OF THE WRECKING CREW, A LOOSE GROUP OF MAINLY JAZZ SESSION MUSICIANS, WORKING IN L.A THROUGHOUT THE 50’S AND 60’S.
AS SESSION MUSICIANS THEY APPEARED ON HUNDREDS OF HIT RECORDS, FROM THE BEACH BOYS TO FRANK SINATRA, COVERING POP, ROCK AND JAZZ WITH EASE.
SOME OF THE TUNES ON THIS PLAYLIST WERE SPECTOR RELEASED, AND ALTHOUGH CREDITED TO THE MORE RECOGNISED GROUPS SUCH AS THE CRYSTALS AND THE RONETTES, IN TRUTH ARE JUST ODD B-SIDES AND JAZZ INSTRUMENTALS FEATURING THE SESSION MUSICIANS THEMSELVES.
THERE’S A FEW MORE BITS OF SPECTOR RELATED MATERIAL AND LASTLY SOME OF THE WRECKING CREWS SOLO PROJECTS.
WITH SOME JAZZ, BLUES AND BEAT, AND A FEW LITTLE INTERESTING (MODERNIST?) MOD GEMS! FOR GOOD MEASURE- AND APART FROM A FEW BACKING VOCALS, HARDLY A GIRL GROUP IN SIGHT!
